The Introduction
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello everybody,
and welcome to the first issue of RIND (Reviews, Interviews &
News about Delphi) Weekly Newsletter. I hope you'll be satisfied with whatever
I'll be writing here week after week. If not, you can unsubscribe by following
the link at the bottom of this message (don't you dare... <g>).
I promise to do my best to make it worthwile for you all. At the
same time, I expect feedback from all of you - criticize all you want, I won't
be listening...
In order to prevent you from giving me a nickname I wouldn't like
(blabbermouth?), I'll get on with it.
The Review
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today's newsletter is about Borland. I've revisited their site
at
http://www.borland.com/
(bet you didn't know this one, huh?)
Okay, I'm putting my Serious Hat on now. No, really.
Honest.
As you may already know, folks from Borland have made big changes
on the site recently. At last, IMO. Why? Because it's all there: easy to read,
easy to search for info on anything that visitors might be interested in and
last, but not least, not ugly. I think you'll agree with me on this.
This site redesign cannot be too interesting by itself. Although
it gives developers a chance to find the info they need (before the changes,
it was a nightmare, at least for me), it's kind of in the shadow of a product
that could mean a revolution in terms of turning Linux users into buyers. You're
right. It's called Kylix. Why not Delphi for Linux? Beats me. It's right here:
http://www.borland.com/kylix/
and if you're interested in what's in it for you, check it out
here:
http://www.borland.com/kylix/delphi/features.html
I don't know about you, but the most exciting part for me is NetCLX(tm).
It gives you the power of RAD for Apache web servers. It could prove to be the
sole reason of Kylix's success (or bust).
Another valuable resource is Developer Support. Find it at
http://www.borland.com/devsupport/
or, if you want Delphi Developer Support, visit
http://www.borland.com/devsupport/delphi/
Probably the best part of the site is Community. Here you can find
articles about your favorite product, components, code samples etc.
http://community.borland.com/delphi/0,1419,1,00.html
This is where you should spend your time. If you're not registered
yet, you can do that at
https://community.borland.com/cgi-bin/login/
Whew! I think I said more than enough for this issue. Stay tuned,
I'm preparing some exciting and interesting stuff that might just help you use
Delphi more efficiently.
Your HLO,
Jovan Sedlan
